Greetings guys, I hope you are all looking forward to the start of
the fall season, and have been following the excitement of the Lion's
Tour to New Zealand.
While watching England's Johnnie Wilkinson the commentators said that
he takes a minimum of 1000 goal kicks a week in practice. When you consider that in the Laws of the Game he is given one minute for a kick, that adds up to nearly seventeen hours a week just on goal kicking and doesn't include shagging balls as we have to do. When you consider that a flyhalf is also responsible for touch kicking, tactical kicking and restarts, the practice time on just the kicking aspect of his game becomes staggering. The pat response for those who actually think about these things is that of course he is a "professional" rugby player.
